Revelation 3
Summary:
The angel of each of the seven churches was to receive a message from God by the pen of the aged apostle John. Revelation chapters two and three are the continuation of chapter one and describe the messages given to each of the seven churches: unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.
Each church receives a commendation, and five receive a reproof. Besides being messages to literal churches, these messages also give profound insight regarding, and counsel to the periods of history that each church represents, from apostolic times until the second coming of Jesus.
The third chapter of Revelation resumes with the messages to the last three of the seven churches.
